ACTIVITIES
Brittany hides many delights for those who have lots of energy or just
want to relax. There are miles of coastline to explore, from the windswept
Atlantic coast to cosy harbours and beaches. Inland, the Ille et Villaine
area has 7 golf courses, forests (Brocéliand - the home of Merlin and
Athurian legends), Megaliths, byways and footpaths for walkers, cyclists
and horse riders, waterways for messing about in boats (the River Villaine
does not deserve its literal name "ugly woman" as it has many beautiful
aspects). The construction of the Nantes/Brest Canal was begun by Bonapart
in 1804. There are steam trains (from Paimpol to Pontrieux) for slow
trips and fast ones to Paris (TGV 2 hours).
For
Golfers there are 7 excellent golf courses nearby and with very
few hilly areas it is a cyclist/walkers paradise. For the sports enthusiasts
there is horseriding, fishing and watersports within easy reach. For
children there are zoo's, water parks and a prehistoric park, complete
with dinosaurs.
CHATEAUX AND MEDIEVAL WALLED CITIES

thousand years. A visit to Bayeaux, to see the tapestry, is well worth
the trip.
FESTIVALS

balloons, crêpes, Arthurian legends, religious pardons and much, much
more.
