Surrounding Area
- Our nearest village is St. Uniac, a charming place which boasts a 15th century church and is just 5 minutes away by car. Their site is here. Its in French, so good practice.
- The nearby town of Montauban is just 10 minutes away with restaurants, several bars, 2 supermarkets, post office and a variety of local shops. Restaurant Table Ronde is well established with excellent menus reasonably priced from 8—20 euros.Again, theres a local website here.
- The ancient walled town of Montford-Sur-Meu is 15 minutes away and offers a larger selection of shops and a weekly market on Fridays. A little further (1 hour) will take you to the many pretty beaches of northern and southern Brittany.
- Brittany has many delights whether you want to relax or re-energise. There are miles of coastline to explore, from the windswept Atlantic coast to cosy harbours and beaches.
- A visit to Bayeaux, one of Brittany’s Medieval Walled towns is well worth the trip, especially to see the famous Bayeaux Tapestry.
Activities
- Golfers can enjoy a choice of 10 excellent Golf Courses within easy reach.
- With very few hilly areas, Brittany is a paradise for cyclists and walkers alike.
- For sports enthusiasts there is horseriding, fishing and watersports—all within easy reach.
- For children there are zoos, water parks and a popular prehistoric park complete with dinosaurs (ask for details).
- For those interested in boating, the River Villaine has many beautiful aspects. Also, you will find the Nantes/Brest Canal which was begun by Bonapart in 1804.
- Steam trains run from Paimpol to Pontrieux for those who prefer a slow trip and fast ones run to Paris (TGV 2 hours).
Festivals
Festivals in France are colourful and abundant and include art, music, dance, books, hot air balloons, Arthurian legends, religious pardons, to name but a few, and yes — even Crepes!
